Types of Dental Cleanings Explained

  • Full Mouth Debridement: This is performed when there’s significant plaque and tartar accumulation. It clears the mouth so we can thoroughly examine your teeth and gums before planning further treatment.
  • Scaling and Root Planing: Also known as deep cleaning, this is recommended when early signs of gum disease are present. It removes buildup from below the gum line and smooths the tooth roots to support gum healing and prevent disease progression.
  • Periodontal Maintenance: For patients with a history of gum disease, these cleanings are scheduled more frequently to keep the condition under control and reduce the risk of recurrence.
